Tenafly Basement Water Damage Needs Controlled Demo
When a hot water heater gave out in a Tenafly basement, extensive water damage resulted. The event saturated the glue-down carpet and wicked rapidly behind the paneled walls. SERVPRO technicians moved out items and extracted the water to make the carpet light enough to safely remove and addressed the water loss to the walls. They measured over the waterline and removed the paneling to dry the plywood and cinder block underneath. The concrete substrate needed drying using both air movers and mats to ensure the embedded moisture got pulled to the surfaces and captured by the dehumidification equipment. After drying the techs used their cleaning agents developed specifically for use on masonry and concrete to leave the basement sanitized and resistant to the development of mold.
